Radley Landgoed Crops
For more than eight decades, Radley Landgoed has cultivated the fertile soils of the Lowveld with care and dedication. Today, our third-generation family business continues to combine traditional farming values with modern technology to produce high-quality sugarcane, citrus, and mangoes.
Our Sugarcane
We cultivate 550 hectares of sugarcane, striving to achieve the highest Tons Recoverable Value (Ton RV/ha) through precision management and sound farming practices.
Every step of the process — from irrigation and fertilization to weed control — is guided by efficiency and sustainability.
Harvesting and transport are carried out by our subsidiary, Malelane Sugar Transport, a company established in partnership with neighbouring growers to provide professional and reliable harvesting and haulage services for the region’s sugar industry.
Our Citrus
Our 163 hectares of citrus orchards include Valencia oranges, Star Ruby grapefruit, and Lemonera lemons.
All fruit is packed at Malelane Citrus Co-op, which markets our produce to clients across the globe, while additional volumes are supplied to Onderberg Verwerkingskoöperasie for juicing and processing.
We take pride in producing export-quality fruit that meets the exacting standards of international markets. By focusing on precise irrigation, balanced nutrition, and careful crop protection, we consistently achieve fruit of excellent size, colour, and taste — expressed in the number of cartons packed per hectare.
Our Mangoes
Our 34 hectares of mangoes feature a range of cultivars, with Tommy Atkins, Shelly, Heidi, and Keitt forming the core of our production.
We cater to the diverse preferences of South African consumers — from retailers and processors to small-scale traders — supplying fruit of varying sizes, flavours, and degrees of ripeness.
Each orchard is carefully managed to ensure optimal yields while protecting fruit from wind, sun, and disease. Our on-farm packhouse supplies municipal markets, processors (for achar, juice, and drying), retailers and hawkers, and our own farm stall, where customers can buy fresh produce directly from the source.
Our Sustainability
At Radley Landgoed, we believe in farming responsibly for the next generation.
A major expense in irrigated agriculture is electricity, and to manage rising costs sustainably, we invested in a floating solar power plant and high-voltage infrastructure — the first of its kind in South Africa at this scale.
This innovation reflects our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, energy efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
